Greetings from
Kuwait Bilingual
School staff and
students, as we are
approaching the end
of first semester, I
would like to update
you with information
and progress being
made at KBS.
1. We have made the
decision to start
our High School
program.
Accordingly next
year we will open
grade 10, and will
be followed in the
years after by grade
11 & 12. this means
we are currently
working many aspects
to make the
secondary school
student life is very
beneficial and
useful, this include
designing special
courses of study,
providing needed
college counseling,
providing needed
university admission
tests, PSAT, SAT and
TOEFL, providing
information about
universities in
Kuwait and outside,
providing
information about
Ministry of Higher
education
scholarship
programs, career
guidance. Also we
will be designing
KBS transcript of
record, and High
School profile....
etc. we have already
recruited the
teachers and ready
to place our books
orders and almost
finished preparing
grade 10 curriculum.
2. During the school
year we used the
e-book for math in
grade 9, this fairly
new technology,
where the e-book is
found on server and
may be accessed
through the internet
in class and at
home. This was a
very successful
program and directly
affected our
students' level in
math. This is why we
have made the
decision to move
ahead and implement
this system in the
teaching of math in
grade 6-10 next
year, and in the
teaching of Biology
in grade 9 and
Chemistry in grade
10. We will be the
first school in
Kuwait who will use
this program for all
the students in
middle and high
school. This means
students will be
using their own
laptops in class and
at home to study and
do homework and get
help and watch the
recorded lessons
online to improve
their understanding
and to prepare for
the online tests.
This is an expensive
program and almost
cost 3 times as much
as the books.
3. Further to our
survey with respect
to KG1 and KG2
timing for the
coming school year.
We have decided to
keep the time like
this year, i.e. from
7:30 - 1:15.
4. On 15 & 16 of
January we will
present our first
musical for the
year: You Are a Good
Man Charlie Brown,
details of the
program will follow.
5. Grades 6-9 exams
will begin on
January 18, schedule
and review sheets
and rules will be
issued next week.
6. KG sports days
will take place
during the last week
of January.
7. This year we will
publish a yearbook,
and hopefully we
will publish a
yearbook every
year. A team of
teachers and
students is working
hard on this
important
publication.
8. Next year will
witness the
installation of
several smart boards
in the many
classrooms.
Currently, we are
working on selecting
the most suitable
technology.
9 Applications of
new students will
open only to
siblings of our
current students and
for all grade levels
except; grade 1 & 2.
We will start
accepting
applications as of
January 15.
Assessment will take
place during the
first two weeks of
March.
10. Re-enrolment of
our current students
is done by
invitation. Every
student will receive
an invitation to
re-enroll during a
set time. After that
time admission will
open to new
students. Due to
limited available
seats the school
cannot guarantee any
seat to any student
who did not
re-enroll during the
set time as will be
explained in the
invitation letters.
Many students will
not receive
invitation letters
due to their
discipline or
academic level.
At the end please
mark your calendar
for the mid-year
vacation that begins
on 28 Jan and finish
on 27 Feb. and do
not forget to visit
our school website
often for more
information and news
about your school.
Business office,
accounting and
admission offices
mid-year holiday
will be from Jan. 28
– Feb 18, these
offices will open
from 19 February
Sincerely
