Thursday October 6 was a very special day at KBS; most
students and teachers came to school wearing something
green, most playground walls were covered with green
scenery painted by students and teachers, a large number
of plant pots were in every corridor. The aim of this
project is to raise the student awareness about ways to
care for the environment and train the student to use
the trash bins instead of throwing leftovers on the
ground.. This project started around the beginning of
the school year and will continue… currently the school
is always clean as the majority of students avoid
trashing the playground and corridors and even pick up
leftover if found anywhere and disposed properly. The
project will now continue with several field trips to
clean the beaches and also every KG child now has a
small plant in the school to care for, in addition to
intermediate and primary students producing posters
about caring for environment and giving presentations to
younger students about the environment. This project
reflect the IB-PYP learner attitude of respecting our
environment and care for it and cooperate together to
achieve the goal through an interdisciplinary approach.
