Dear All
It is a pleasure
and an honor to be a member of Kuwait Bilingual School
community. KBS has been established since 1998 as a
progressive educational institution to serve the
community in Al Jahra city, by providing a bilingual
educational program, that was not available in the city
at that time.
Over the years and
under the leadership of Saleh Al Mekhlef the Chairman of
the school board and Mr. Eamon Hogan the founding
director of the school, the school progressed from about
30 students to over 600 students in the year 2008 – 2009
when Mr. Eamon decided to leave KBS after 11 years of
service. In the year 2010 – 2011 our school enrolment
exceeds 800 students and classes reach grade 8 level.
This is a major indicator of how successful the school
is in providing the service KBS was found to present.
This new school
website is a reflection of the school vision and
mission. It is a bilingual communication tool aims at
providing the best possible communication tool between
parents, students and teachers. The school has acquired
SKOOLEE data management system, where parents, students
and teachers can access this program from this website
to update, review and communicate about students’
academic progress.
In addition KBS is
planning to apply the International Baccalaureate -
Primary Years Program (IB-PYP) from Nursery to grade 5
starting September 2010. IB-PYP requires a huge training
program for teachers, and requires huge resources budget
and aims at changing the teaching methods at the school
to better prepare the students for the challenges of 21st
century. The implementation of PYP will be gradual over
two years 2010 – 2011 and 2011 – 2012, then the school
will apply for official authorization from the IB
institution which will make KBS an IB world school,
offering top international educational program to the
students.
I look forward to meet and work
with all the parents, students and teachers to make our
children experience at KBS fruitful and beneficial and
actually prepare them to be the successful leaders of
the tomorrow.
Sincerely
Ghassan Al Jilani
Director General
